Manonethra
as it is named with affection, is a program
for the empwerment of the Differently abled. In the initial
activity Sevabharathi has taken up the cause of the Visually
challenged. For the past 3 years Manonethra team has surveyed
the Hostels of the Visually challenged and worked with the
Visually challenged in
the 3 out of 11 Hostels for the Visually challenged.
The mission was to reach
the 770 inmates of the Hostels in the twin cities initially.
The inmates were deprived of the reading material, and the
scribes to pen the exams of the visually challenged while
the dictate. It was a herculen task as the Govt which is supposed
to provide the Scribes has obviously was unable to match the
demand. It was one of our friends who has suggested the Audio
books for the Blind. The Audio books are the Audio
cassetes that we use Regularly but with a difference in the
utility. The Lessons are read out and recorded in the cassettes,
which are distributed in free among the Visually challenged.
Normally they donot have any other aid to
assist them. The Visually chal;lenged are dependent on the
Audio cassettes or the good hearted people.
As on date MANONETHRA
could distribute 300 audio books Per annum and provide
Scribes to the 100 and odd students. This is the beginning.......

not Pity So get closer to them to assist in their tutions.
Spare
your leasure time through Tuting them, Then You could Volunteer
them to read out Stories for the kids and news items for the
elders.
OR
read them out and Record them in the Audio cassettes.
Volunteer yourself to be a scribe in their
Exams.
Contribute to the Activity in Cash / Kind
Support the Dignity of the Physically and
mentally challenged / The Differently Abled......
