Sevabharathi Annual Report 2004 - 05

Publicity Brochures:  New publicity brochures have been designed and printed for fund raising 2004-05 for Ekalavya Awasam, Annapoornamma Awasam & Vatsalya Sindhu in June 2004.

Eye Camp:  A free eye checkup and treatment camp in association with L.V. Prasad Eye Hospital was conducted at Saraswathi Sishu Mandir, Venkataramana Colony under the aegis of Manonethra.  A total of 1000 children including children from blind hostels in the city as well as the surrounding slums were examined during a period extending from June 2004 to October 2005 and fit cases referred to L.V. Prasad Eye Hospital.

Arogya Bharathi Varga:  A health awareness and training camp for 20 volunteers from all over the state was conducted on 7th & 8th August 2004 at Sri Saraswathi Sishu Mandir, Venkatramana Colony, Hyderabad.  The training programme included preventive and first-aid techniques for common illnesses.

Training Prgramme for Awas Pramukhs:  A Training Programme for the incharge/ wardens of the 11 affection homes from East & West Andhra Pradesh was held at Sharada Dhamam, Bandlaguda from 20th to 22nd August 2004.  Sri Madhava Mahandle was present at through out the camp to guide the participants also present were Prof. Maruthi Sharma, Sri Bhagayyaji, Sri Ramireddyji.

European Parliament Team Visits Bridge SchoolA team of five MPs visited Amistapoor Child Labour Rehabilitation School on 25th Oct 2004.  The team by the name International Development Committee has undertaken an enquiry into DFID assistance to India and was more than satisfied by the efforts of Seva Bharathi.  The team included Mr.Tony Baldry, Chairman (Conservative Banbury), Mr.John Batrie (Labour Leads West), Mr.Tony Colmun(Labour Putney), Mr.Plara S Khabra(Labour Ealing Southal), Mr.Andrew Robathan(Conservative Balbie) and the clerk of the committee Mr.Alisair Doherty, as well as Mr.Joseph from ILO.

 New School Building Inauguration – Kandukurthi:  A new building constructed for Keshava Sishu Mandir and funded by G.K.Kabra of Kabra Charitable Trust was inaugurated by Sri Haldekarji on 14th Nov 2004.

 Tution Centers:  Free tution centers were launched on 25th Nov’04 after an initial survey of the slums  in Shahpurnagar, Sanatnagar, Vajpayeenagar, Amberpet, Nimboliadda, Ramnagar, Tilaknagar, these centers would cater to the poor students in the slums.

 Mobile Dispensary Project:  Seva Bharathi has requested the Govt. of India, Ministry of Tribal Affairs for permission to spend the unspent balance amount for Mobile Dispensary Project for the development of PTG Chenchus of Kurnool Dist. on 30th Nov 2004 so as to continue the Mobile Dispensary service activities without interruption.  The project has been a great success taking the medical aid to the door steps of the Chenchus for over an year attending to 35 hamlets and an average of 1,565 chenchu patients per month.

Temple Construction:  A Shiva Temple was constructed at Balajinagar, Bhagyanagar and traditional inauguration ceremony held by Hampi Shankaracharya. Dattatreya Temple was constructed in Medak on 26th Dec 04.

Seetha Ramji’s Tour:  Sri Seetharamji Kedalia, all India incharge for seva activities was in Andhra Pradesh visiting the service activities of Seva Bharathi, Western A.P.  The tour extended from 28th Dec 2004 to 5th Jan 2005.

Computer Literacy Centre:  Nizamabad, Sri Sitaramji inaugurated a computer center on 3rd Jan 2005, with 8 computers for the benefit of the slum children.  Computers were donated by Avineon Technologies, Hyderabad.

Vaidehi Kishori Vikas Yojana:  A training and awareness programme to better the living conditions of the slum dwellers has been launched on 26 Jan 2005.  In the first phase of the programme a group of 25 girls were selected as TOTs and trained in various aspects of community health, hygiene, community development, motivation.  The programme was presided by Sri P.T.Chandra Mouli, Sri Ram Reddy, Ch.V. Subhramanyam and Prof. Maruthi Sharma.

10th Anniversary Celebration – Sangha Mithra:  A grand function was organized to celebrate a decade of service to the needy in Nandyal by Sangha Mithra Seva Samithi on 6th Feb 2005.  The guest of honour included Sri S.P.Y. Reddy, Member of Parliament who presided over the function and the chief guest Mrs. Shilpa Mohan Reddy, MLA.  A Photo exhibition depicting a decade of Seva was unveiled by Sri Pocha Brahmananda Reddy, Director, N.G.Ranga Agricultural University.

13th Anniversary Celebration – Valmiki Awasam:  Sri Singaracharyulu, Additional Dist. Megistrate was all praise for Seva Bharathi after he was told that one of the students of Valmiki Awasam was doing his Medicine and he comes from a first generation literates.  He was speaking at anniversary celebrations of Valmiki Awasam on 27th Feb 2005.  Also present were Sri Surya Rao, RDO, Jagityal and D. Venkatnarayana, DSP, Jagityal.

11th Anniversary Celebration – Annapurnamma Awasam:  The Joint Collector of Kurnool Dist. Sri Ram Shanker Naik was present at the anniversary celebrations on 6th Mar 2005, he spoke at length for the need for voluntary humanitarian efforts.  A beautiful presentation by the children of the awasam made a lasting impression on Sri M. Krishna Rao, MD, ICON Biological Pvt. Ltd.

World TB Day – Medak:  March 24th is a regular event in Medak Dist. and is celebrated in association with the Dist. TB Society and Seva Bharthi every year.  This year as usual Sri A.K.Singh, Dist. Collector presided over the function.  Also present was Sunitha Hanumantha Rao Patil, ZP Chairman.
