BHARATI-THE RURAL SEVA WING OF SEVABHARATI |
GRAMA
BHARATHI is the rural wing of SEVA BHARATHI Registered under
the Societies act. The Organisation has been Working for the
integrated RURAL development. GRAMA BHARATHI has taken up
15 Villages, one Village each from 7 Districts of Western
Andhra Pradesh. Each village has a Village commitee for Development
which oversees the development activities. The activities
are mainly on village Health, Character building, Education,
Swavalamban and Sanghatan. A little discription of each village
is given below

1.
CHITYAL: |
A Village
in the Naxal infected area of Warangal Dt. with a Population
of 2000. Here the development activities are going on since
26 years. A native Doctor (Dr.B.Surendra Reddy, M.B.B.S.,)has
taken the lead, who stayed there and worked as general practitioner
for 26 years, it is he who Initiated developmental activities
in the village viz., Health camps, Dharmajagaran, Samskar
Kendram, School, Coaching classes, Intensive training in modern
Cultivational methods, Thrift programs, Mahila Jagaran, Youth
activities, Stitching center for S.C.Women, collective celebration
of Hindu Festivals (especially Vijaya Dashami, when almost
all the people of the village come together for Jhami Pooja)
etc.
In this village we see a hormoneous dwelling
of all the people irrespective of their caste, creed, political
affiliation etc. There is no untouchabelity here. All the
castes including S.C., S.T. communities are equally invited
and dine together at their ceremonies.
A seva kendra Bhavan is built to gear-up
all these activities, through Shramadan and funds raised by
the villagers. The village is in a hot bed of Naxalities.
They did not tolerate all these activities and blewup the
building recently. By doing such a slanderous act they got
the wrath of the people. At present our activities are mainly
based on Single teacher schools. About 13such schools are
being run in and around the village. Though these schools
all the activities are going on smoothly. |
| 2. GURREVULA |
| GURREVULA
is a corner, agency & backward area in Warangal district.
It is the native village of Sri Akuthota Rama Rao, a dedicated
Social worker. He initiated the developmental activities in
1991. Having took ill for some time he was forced to stay
at his village for 3 years. It is in this period he had a
chance to shape the village. Here the activities are mainly
on Samskara, Education and Thrift programs. A school building
is built by the villagers with their Shramdan.
There are 250 members in the thrift program
in which 150 are women. The total savings come up to more
than 4 lakh rupees. There are 5 village level Samithis each
for a temple, a school, savings, youth activities and Grama
Bharathi. Rama Mandir is the center of activity for the entire
village. There is no untouchability now. All the castes came
together and sit together in the Mandir. Though this village
is also surrounded by Naxalites, all the activities are going
on smoothly.
3. Marrigudem
Marrigudem is another village worth mentioning near Gurrevvla
in Warangal dt. with a population of 1500. Marrigudem is another
effort worth mentioning. Sri Madhu Reddy a NRI of the village,
donated 20 acres of land to Grama Bharati for the developmental
activities in the village |
. After digging some borewells, the entire area is brought
under Horticulture and other plantation. There is a stitching
center for women, study center for high school boys of weaker
sections, free coaching center for 10th class students, non
formal schools, youth activities, vermy culture, Sanitation
programs etc.,. We are planing to make it a Demonstrative-
Farm and a training center for dryland cultivation.
We shall have a Goshala ,Aushadi
Udyan (medicinal plants), An enterprenuering cottage industry.
Marrigudem is a backward area with a least rainfall. It is
a highly Florine affected area. We have taken
mass awakening programs to drink deflorinated water and to
keep the village clean and green.

4. Kollampalli |

Kollampalli
is a village with a population of 5000 in the most backward
district of Andhra Pradesh the MAHABOOBNAGAR with a minimum
rainfall. The villagers built a Community hall and a school
building with contributions by each one of them and Shramadan.
A primary school is being run in which about 50 S.T. Students
are there from the surrounding Tandas. Thrift program, Single
Teachers Schools, Weaker section study center for poor students,
Bhajan mandalis, Matru Mandali, Sanitation etc., are some
of the activities run in the village.

| 5. Kalpagvru |

Kalpagvru
is situated about 5 k.m. from the district head quarter Sangareddy
has a population of 5000. A School, Study center, Thrift program
(where the deposits exceeded 4 lakhs with 200 numbers), Sanitation,
Plantation programs etc., are there. The center of activity
of the village is Sri Kasi Vishweshvara Temple which is renevated
by the villagers recently. |
6. Mategaon |

Mategaon
with a population of 4000 is located 5kms away from BHAINSA
ADILABAD DT. A weekly Medical aid center is run by the doctors
from Bhainsa which is about 5 km. Samskara classes for girls
and boys, youth association, Bhajan mandali etc., are some
of the activities of the village. Villagers layed an approach
road and plantation done by Shramdan. Coaching classes, non-formal
education, Sanitation etc., are some of the activities. Cow
slanghter is prevented by the village youth Chirutala
Ramayanam is a popular cultural activity of the village. |
