Basically the project is looking after an overall improvement in an average slum concentrating on aspects such as educating them in health, sanitation, basic education, moral support, psychological build up. All these applications on their human values create self confidence which helps them to slowly come out of their unending problems.

The basic commitment is to enlighten them that even their lives are precious for the world. **** Now this effort has moved 20 doctors along with their vehicles and they now voluntarily visit the Slums nearest and most needed by themselves.

The medicare on wheels Sanjeevani visits "25" selected slums of the city regularly once in a week. The schedule would be " a same spot-same day and same time" for the convenience of the patients.

With growing slum population & the twin cities turning unhygienic, the fate of slum dweller health is but a big question mark. With the spread of TB, malaria, gastroenteritis and such other diseases the need for an effective health mechanism is felt more.

Sevabharati decided to supplement the Govt. Machinery in its efforts in medical services. That ‘s how the idea of mobile medical mission “Sanjeevani” was conceived. An integrated approach to develop the health standards of slums and creating of a healthy environment of growth forms the thrust of the programme. Awareness compaign for preventive health care is being more concentrated.

Sanjeevani has successfully motivated the local people in the community participation in health services and other developmental activities like education, women welfare etc
Till date Sanjeevani has treated 4,000 families in 25 bastis /slums. Apart from regular treatment, special camps on Sundays in dental, eye and Gynic subjects are also being conducted. In 35 such camps 13,200 patients got benefited.

Monthly medicines worth Rs 35,000/- are distributed. Twenty doctors, specialized in various fields, visit the slums. The participation of 19 medical students in these activities is encouraging. De-addiction drive is taken up for alcoholics & smokers.

Another 100 doctors have and are offering thier services to the poor through sevabharathis Sanjeevani Project.

Community Health workers : With a view of building up a Health mechanism from among the suffering and needy so that they understand and make their fellow being understand Health and Hygiene. A Selected gropu of 60 volunteers have been picked up and trained in First Aid and other Health Topics. The aim of the programme is to pick up rural youth and train them in rendering primary health aid. Teams of 15 doctors of different specialties guide the effort. The community health worker is trained in dealing with all the information and practical training of Health services. It is decided to conduct such camps in all the districts in the state.
