The Deendayal seva samithi, a local body of Sevabharathi working in the slums in and around nimboiadda, conducts summer training camp for the children of the Slums. It has been the 5^th consecutive year and the children of the 9 slums look forward for the camp. Inteded at strengthening the creative levels and providing a chance for the little minds to innovate, the camp has been attended by 77 children this year.

A free training program in Bhagawatgeetha, Spoken English, Handicrafts, Songs, and Clasical dance (for girls), Spoken Sanskrit, and Cultural Folk dance for both boys and girls. This is a 20 day program (7^th – 18^th May’03) with a single point "to create a congenial atmosphere for learning to all the kids".

The camp a 20-day programme organised by deendayal sevasamithi (A Unit of Sevabharath) was all of an interesting episode that shall continue to be as inspiring as it is for the past 5 years. The Children from 9 surrounding slums attended the camp. And the thrust of the camp is the tallents hidden in the children and ways to bring out the same. The instructors were selected from a handful of experienced voluntary people with excellence in their field of work.

The Children made interesting subjects with lots of questions and doubts in the subject they were so inquisitive that they brainstrommed the instructors. A career counseling session by Mr Ravinder of AMD was enlightening with various subjects and the job oppurtunities etc.

The valedictory Function was held on 18^{th may} Sunday at Nimboliadda with parrents and people from in and arround participating in big numbers. The Guest of Honour was Sri Vijay Kumar, Hyderabad Securities was impressed with the performance of the children. He was all praise for the trainers and teachers who had taken lots of pains to equip the children in all the faculties in such a short time and felt happy to be part of such an effort and would like to continue to associate in future too. Sri Om Prakash Sharma the President Deendayal Seva Samithi explained in detail the service activitie taken up by the samithi. He mentioned that the efforts in Education, the free Tution center for the slum children and the samskara kendras that impart education in Health and hygiene, and good habbits were well attended and benifitted. The Health initiatives taken up by the samithi are the diabetic consulting center at sevabharathi office, the free Gynic medical aid center at the Sevabharathi office and the womens thrift societies.

The keynote speaker of the day was Sri Aekka Chandra Sekhar the Organising Secretary of Sevabharathi. Sri Chandra sekhar appreciated the efforts of the all those who have made the camp a success the trainers, the parrents and the people in and around. He appealed the people that sebvabharathi is just an effort by some people like you and me and more people getting involved means more of such good initiative reaching more needy. This year a tribal boy from the affection homes run by sevabharathi in Adilabad district scored 530 / 600 in his 10^th class and there is the tallent in the children Only thing is we need to give them the most required inputs. The Single teacher schools of sevabharathi in 150 schools of interior forests are bringing back the light in to 4,300 children. Even in Hyderabad sevabharathi runs a Mobile Dispensary which touches up on 41 slums, the dispensary not only takes care of the health but also tries to bring awareness on various issues in the lives of the Slum dwellers.

The camp has also its share of special things to mention and one them is this kid who has scored 580 marks in his 7^th class and this child is from the adjacent slum Krishnanagar. There are these children who are studying hard and need the guidance it’s a fact that we in our homes have children who sometimes fail inspite of all facilities and tutions. The children of today should also have a blend of knowledge of our traditions.

Then there was the Prize distribution by the Guest of Honour, to the children who have performed well in the competitions then at the last leg of the programme was the Vote of thanks by the Vice-President Sri Suresh Manjunath.
