Kerala
In 3 Panchayats, 450 activists are working: cleaning of houses, making Roads, supplying food to 3000 peoples daily, helping Matha Amirthanandamyee Mutt workers. Rice packets of 10 kg each per week were distributed up to 750 quintal and will cover 3000 more families. A medical team with 4 ambulances is working. 15 mobile water tanks are going round the affected areas. 5 tuition centres for SSLC and students of 12th standard are run in which 100 students are benefiting. 2300 people were given psychological counseling in 2 centers.
TamilNadu
Death ceremony for deceased was conducted at 80 different places on the 16th day. Temporary shelters for 1200 families have been constructed at Keechankuppam, a hamlet of Nagapattinam. Community kitchen in 5 centres are being run. 1000 tonnes of rice will be distributed in due course. Nearly 600 families will be benefited. 26,000 family kits each worth about Rs.2000/- are distributed. 30 groups consisting of mainly of ladies are consoling people in the counseling centres.

Coastal Andhra Pradesh
3000 family kits were distributed among affected families.
Andaman
15 medical centers were set up for 5000 patients. Rs. 20 lakhs worth materials were distributed.
Relief Materials needed now:
Kerala: Bed sheets and utensils for 3000 families.
Tamilnadu: Notebooks, bicycles and construction materials
Coastal Andhra Pradesh: Bed sheets, Notebooks, new clothes, Medicines
Andaman and Nicobar: Minimum needs for a family
In all places Relief work is nearing completion except in Andaman. With this rehabilitation work has started.
Rehabilitation work: Kerala
- Construction of 100 houses in one village (Rs 75,000 per house)
- Providing furniture for 3000 houses(Rs 5000 per house)
- 8 community houses for shelter during rainy season, each costing nearly Rs. 2 lakhs.
- Drinking water project for Vypeen Island
Total estimate Rs 2.41 corers
Tamilnadu:
- Construction of 3,250 temporary houses in 12 villages (Rs 12,000 per house)
- Fishing nets 3000 units (Rs 3000 per unit)
- 300 new boat each Rs 1 lakh.
- Repairing of 1000 boats. (Each Rs 15,000)
- Other equipments worth Rs 70 lakhs.
- Constructing 12 community centers each Rs 50,000
Total estimate Rs 10 corers.
Coastal Andhra Pradesh:
- Fishing nets 1000 units (Rs 10,000 per unit)
- Wooden boats 50 Nos each Rs 30,000.
- Fiber boats 100 Nos each Rs70,000.
- New engines 50 Nos. each Rs 30,000.
- Boat repair 500 Nos each Rs 2000.
- Engine repair 1,500 Nos Rs min 500 to 2000..
Total estimate Rs. 2.38 corers.
Andaman and Nicobar:
- Temporary houses for 200 families each Rs 40,000.
- Repairing of school buildings.
- Pathological laboratory.
Total 1.38 corers.
Long term plan is to construction of School buildings and orphanages wherever required.
Rescue and Relief Work Done by Seva Bharathi TamilNadu
Immediately
- By about 10.a.m. on 26th December 2004, the Volunteers started the relief work.
- On that day itself 16,000 food pockets were distributed.
- The affected people were given shelter and clothes.
- Aged people were given blankets and milk was given to the children.
During the first week
- 3300 volunteers worked in the affected fishermen localities.
- 115 people were rescued.
- Last rites were performed with dignity for those who lost their lives.
- 75 doctors provide medical services to the affected people and 5 ambulances were used for the medical relief work.
- 15 relief centres were started and relief work carried out with lightening speed.
- With the help of Salem Gokulam Hospital, a mineral water plant was installed immediately in Nagapattinam. With the help of this plant, 30000 litres of mineral water is being generated daily.
- During the first week, food was given to 30000 people daily.
During the second week
- Food was supplied to the villages by preparing it in the Community Kitchens.
- A family kit containing the most essential things were distributed to 26,860 families
- Counseling and medical relief was offered to 113 villages.
During the third week
- In 52 Fishermen's areas, rituals were performed on 16th day and prayers were conducted for Satgati of the departed soul.
- In Keechankuppam, a hamlet of Nagapattanam, the work for constructing 1200 temporary houses has been started.
- On the Sankranti Day in Chennai, Pongal festival was celebrated by volunteers along with the affected people in 21 Fishermen's localities a first step towards confidence building exercise. Bhajans, various competitions like Rangoli making, singing etc were held.
