3000 family kits were distributed among affected families.
Jan Sankshema Samiti to rehabilitate 5000 families in Nellore and Prakasham district of coastal Andhra Pradesh - 15.1.2005 15.1.05
Jan Sankshema Samiti has identified 36 villages from Nellore and Prakasham districts. In all the villages all most all the types of nets were damaged. JSS will provide fishing nets to nearly 5000 families and repair their boats. Each such fishing net will cost Rs. 10,000. In Nellore district, YSS came forward to adopt one village. 45 beneficiaries in Venkateshwara palem were identified and their boats, engines and nets were repaired at the cost of Rs. 1,80,000. In Prakasam district, with support Rs. 1,00,000 from Dover Software Company relief material were distributed in Chakicherla chinna pattepu palem, Sri Ram Nagar Colony, Battu somaiah palem villages. Poorvi Andhra Pradesh Prant Dear All, This is regarding the massive under sea earthquake, which resulted in thousands of people homeless & killing hundreds of people in almost all the parts of Costal Andhra Pradesh & Tamil nadu. Fisherman was the worst hit as strong currents washed away thousand of fishing boats and countless fishing nets. In Andhra Pradesh Nellore, Prakasam, Krishna, East Godavari, Vishaka & Vijaya Nagaram were the worst affected districts as per the preliminary information & hit badly due to this earthquake. Sangha Swayam Sevaks have started the relief work in various part of Costal Andhra Pradesh:
1. A team of doctors and volunteers from Jaya bharat Hospital (Nellore) has started the medical facilities
in effected area and saved nearly 43 lives (as per the preliminary information)
2. Batches of swayam sevaks started the relif work in 5 centers (Mypadu, Iskapalli, koduru, chennai pale and Krishna puram villages).
3. A temporary relief camp was started in Singarayakonda in prakasm districts and the local swayam sevaks were helping the Govt authorities
4. 3 medical vans from Guntur district rushed immediately to prakasm district with preventive medicines and a batch of 50 swayam sevaks from kanigiri were also joined the team.
5. A batch in Natha Ramewsaram (of east godavari district) also started the relief camps in the same area. Local RSS pracharak Sri Chitti Babu with others workers started the immediate relief work
6. Apart from the above-mentioned relief works, all the local RSS Units are actively participating in different relief work.
7. A survey is going on to estimate the total loss incurred in the costal Andhra.
Permanent Relief Work:
1. Distribution of fishing nets, assistance for purchasing and repairing fiber boats
2. To undertake the repair work of diesel engines and to supply the fuel so that they can start the lively hood immediately
3. Supply of textbooks, notebooks and clothing to effected students in the costal area.
4. Construction of houses (based on the survey conducting after few days)

Here is an update of the work being done in Eastern AP: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh East Andhra Pradesh, Vijayawada Updated report as on Dec 27th mid night. Swayamsevaks from all parts of costal Andhra are actively participating in the relief activities and conducted a sample survey across 65 villages (out of 82 affected villages) in Prakasam and Nellore Districts. More than 800 swayamsevaks are providing the services to the victims and helping them to get back to their normal lives. From the past 48 hours around 30,000 food packets were distributed to the earthquake-affected people. 8 medical teams are providing the medical facilities to the victims. Sample Survey Report:- Swayamsevaks conducted door to door survey in 65 villages (out of 82 affected villages) in Prakasam and Nellore districts. As per the preliminary survey the approximate damage cost went upto 24 crores. The total number of villages (belonging to Fishermen community) across the coastal belt is 520 out of which 300 villages are affected. Fishermen are not inclined to move the damaged boats and other equipments as they are waiting for the insurance survey and the banking policies. The actual damage cost across the costal belt will be ten times more. The total reported deaths are 105. Property damage cost in 65 villages (Prakasam and Nellore districts):

RSS Swayamsevaks in the service of Tsunami Victims Relief teams comprising the swayamsevaks of RSS sprung into action in the worst effected districts of Nellore and Prakasham engaged themselves in relief and rescue operations.
An Eye Camp was scheduled to be held at Mypadu of Nellore District doctors and other Para medical staff from Jaya Bharat Hospital affiliated to Seva Bharati , Nellore were present on the spot when the calamity broke out. The collector of the district who had a visit to the village felt relieved on hearing that 43 persons were rescued by the RSS swayamsevaks. Additional batches of workers also reached Mypadu ,Iskapalli and Channayapalem villages taking chapatis and tamarind rice packets to be distributed to the displaced persons.
Some two scores of fishermen who were feared to have lost off Iskapalli coast have safely reached Karedu of Prakasham District. At Singaraya Konda 2000 persons from the coastal villages are sheltered in a camp and arrangement for food and to attend their medical needs were done with the help of local rice millers and other philantrapic individuals.
