A brief report of relief work by Seva Bharathi – Kerala |

| Kochi: Kollam, Alappuzha and Ernakulam are the worst affected districts in the tsunami attack in the Kerala coast. Approximately 200 lives have been lost in the state. Vibhag and District adhikaries are leading the rescue and relief operations. Saha Kshetriya Pracharak Shri S Sethumadhavanji, Prant Pracharak Shri A Gopalakrishnanji, Kummanan Rajasekharanji etc. were visted the affected places and gave proper guidance. BJP national president Shri L K Advaniji also visited the places. |
| Relief Activities |
| · About 3,000 swayamsevaks have been participating in the rescue and relief work through out the calamity area.
· 48 camps are working through out the state for relief work. · Temporary toilets built in all the camps to satisfy the primary needs of the whole campers.
· 14 ambulances, doctors from Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Ernakulam are serving at the centers. All the needed medicines are collected from various resources by swayamsevaks and distributing in the camps.
· Food, clothes and bedding facilities are provided at the relief camps by Seva Bharathi to almost 15, 000 people.
· Though the other social service organizations involving in the relief works, Government authorities appreciated the relief work of Seva Bharathi.
· Swayamsevaks were pioneers among those who removed the dead bodies and in front of the cremation of bodies.
· Shibirarthis of all among 29 Prathamika Shiksha Vargh has contributed their few hours to go out to the public and collect money, medicines and clothes on 27th. |

Immediate Needs |
· Supplying household necessities and repair and construction of new houses for 5, 000 families.
· Repairing of damaged fishing boats (with Yamaha Engine) about 100 and replacing small fishing boats about 1,200.
· Buying fishing nets.
· Providing food for a period of one month. Permanent Needs
· Full re-construction of 5 panchayats (at Kollam), which were washed away by the tides of Tsunami.
· Providing new boats and nets.
· Educational aids – building schools (at Kollam), providing text & note books etc.
· Constructing about 2,000 houses among the whole affected areas. |
