THE STATE LEVEL TEACHERS TRAINING PROGRAMME

Sevabharathi Bridge School - Amistapur


Child labour is a major hurdle in the mahaboobnagar district. An estimated 1.6 lakh child labourers in the district and the 20,000 in Bhootpur mandal (In which the school is located) tops in the country. Sevabharathi has taken up the issue and has decided to equip itself better in handling the issue.


Since and only a trained Human resource can better handle the cause, sevabharathi has organised a 10-day training programme for the teachers (TOTs) trainers of trainers. The camp has delt in detail all the issues related from the child labour the cause, the effects, the need for rehabilitation and Educating The Little Hands That Work. Attended by 67 Young men and women from all over the state the camp has been a memorable learning both for the Teachers and their Trainers.

The 10-day camp started off with inspiring speech of Dr Vadde Vijay Sarathy a Literary with a decade’s experience in Sri Saraswathy vidyapeetham. Also present were Sri Aekka Chandra Sekhar Organising Secretary Sevabharathi AP, Dr Bharadwaj President Sevabharathi, Secretary Dist Committee Sri Venkatesh, Sri Hari Krishna functional incharge Education, Sri Ashok Goud President Sevabharathi Bridge School have graced the occasion. Winning the hearts of the children is the Real education, One that bringing out the inner talents of the Children is the real teacher.


Out of the Total participants 38 male and 19 female have been trained in the above aspects. Out of the above figures SC: 5, ST: 14, BC: 35, OC: 3 Most of the participants are the First Generation Literates and were thrilled to participate in a training programme. Three of the Girls were willing to work without any condition of placement teach the kids is their motto as they say...


We had a pre programme evaluation where in the teachers trainees were given aquestion paper and asked to answer only 12 of them were in the Group I. And in a Post Programme Evaluation 32 were evaluated to be in the First category / Group I and the 25 in the Group II.

The Trainees had special sessions in the Physical education daily, then there were the exclusive training modules in Cultural, Folk art forms of the local native languages and art forms.

Child Psychology: With a call to win the Children Dr Vijayasarathy has made an impact on the 67 Teachers who have come all the way from their remotest hamlets and villages. The TOTs were impressed upon by Sri Vijayasarathy to involve the children in the process of learning ie, an interactive and playful mode of teaching. He taught the teachers two songs by which Mathemtics and Telugu Alphabetics could be taught easily to the children.


Child labourers and Rehabilitation: The first day in the Camp had Sri Aekka Chandra Sekhar dealing extensively on the residential needs of the children, the problems faced, and the need for updating oneself of the local conditions and the Wonderful world of the children. Sri chandra sekhar as the Organising Secretary of Sevabharathi has seen an extensive social change in the field and Child labour was also a part of the changes.


Skill Development: Improving ones skills and developing the inner tallents of oneself is the primary factor that can influence the Children and also the activist. Sri KS Murthy General Secretary Sevabharathi was trying to motivate the teachers to improve their educational, teaching, vocal, oratory skills. He exemplified his case with a story of Hanuman.


Primary Education: The Primary education forms the fundamental and functional part of a person’s life. And the teacher should be better equipped to give a strong foundation to the future of the student. Sri Vadde Vijaya sarathy gave an eloberate understanding of the issues in education, Primary education should include all the curricular and extra co-curricular activities to make it relavent and interesting. Only a mix of both of them shall give better results. Visual and audio teaching aids shall play an important impactive role in getting the message to the kids. Teaching aids preparing lesson plans, annual referance outlay, and some watching of the surroundings shall be of immense helping.


Extraco-curricular activities in Teaching: Sri K Sudhakara areddy The Song and dance shall make the kids more involved and active in learning. This interactive mode of learning can invoke the creative inputs of the child. The Bridge schools have less time and more syllabii for the children and in such circumstances the formal teaching shall be replaced with a mix of informal teaching methods.

Smaller and effective service activities: Sri Rama murthy the joint secretary of Sevabharathi has stressed to not remain an island and it’s a must for any activity to involve the community. Small service activities like teaching the 10th class, 7th class students and tutoring them, teaching the small children some small things like rhymes, small health tips etc. shall bring the enormous impact in the community around.


Health and Hygiene: Cleanliness is only next to Godliness. And the Residential Bridge school is the ideal place to impart health awareness to the children. This shall be awareness for a lifetime. Dr Surender reddy the project officer of the Sanjeevani medical unit has stressed upon the trainees to get equipped with the health aspects to inturn impart it to the children.

Promoting Indegenous Tallent: Indigenous talent of the local communities is a point to promote. And only with the local participation shall any programme flourish and sustain.
