The story of Gadige Lakshmi reflects how taking one step transformed not just her life but the community’s.
Lakshmi is known for her compassion and commitment in her community. She works as an ASHA worker and takes on many responsibilities of her community. She cares not just for her family but also offers support to her community and keeps helping people as and how they need help.
On the other side, she was fighting her own personal battle. Her husband was struggling with alcohol addiction, which affected her peace and the family’s stability. Her husband neither supported her nor listened to her.
With so many challenges at home, Lakshmi never stopped to serve others in the community. She followed a motto that a positive change can happen only with courage. She stepped into Kishori Vikas Kendram and worked towards youth and women empowerment. The program is run by Seva Bharathi Telangana, a trusted NGO in Hyderabad.
The Kendram allowed Lakshmi to guide young girls and women and also provided all the community support and emotional strength that she required in the process. She worked hard and found a new purpose in life, which was to empower young girls and women with life skills, confidence, and awareness.
Due to these programs and initiatives, Seva Bharathi Telangana is recognized as one of the well-known skill development NGOs in Hyderabad that focuses on the upliftment of the community.
Eventually, Lakshmi’s resilience started to inspire her husband. He listened to her and began to leave his alcohol addiction. He also worked hard and found a job to rebuild his life. Their home started to see a transformation. They now saw hope, respect, and stability.
Lakshmi credits her transformation story to the Kishori Vikas Center and the support she got from Seva Bharathi Telangana. Her story shows that when a woman rises, her family rises with her, and then the community rises.
Lakshmi continues working for the community with a new confidence, showing that empowerment is not just about skills but also about restoring hope.
