Seva Bharathi

Akarshana Sathish, who is only 13 years old, is the main organizer of a movement for reading and empowering education with Seva Bharathi’s support. Recently, she inaugurated her 16th library in Neredmet, Secunderabad, marking yet another achievement in her mission to make books and knowledge available to people who cannot afford to buy books.

Her mission started at the age of 9, Akarshana went to MNJ Cancer Children’s Hospital in Hyderabad and saw the children’s eagerness to read. Inspired by this, she began requesting books from her relatives, friends, and neighbors to create a small initiative offering books to those in need.. This program increased in the number of years and now AKARSHANA distributing over 10000+ books to the state of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

Today, books in Hindi, English, and Telugu are available in various places, including hospitals, orphanages, police stations and community centers.

From humble beginnings, Akarshana Sathish has grown into a significant source of support for many. “It has developed in a very big way from a small beginning and has become conducive to many,” added Sathish Kumar, her father. Her endeavor has received national recognition, and there have been instances where Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appreciated her work, even stating that he would personally inaugurate her 25th library.

Seva Bharathi, the best NGO in Hyderabad, has a mission and vision that align with Akarshana Sathish’s values. Seva Bharathi believes in empowering communities through education by building libraries, schools, and more.

Together, Akarshana Sathish’s 16th library at Sanchara Jathula Seva Bhavan and Seva Bharathi are bringing about positive change, including fostering a culture of reading in communities—a key aspect of empowerment through education.
